GW News: New Wood Elves Revealed

Some enterprising young folks on the internets (specifically, over at Grim Dark Realms) have managed to find pictures of the new Wood Elf releases before GamesWorkshop officially made them available to the public.

I've seen some criticisms, but I've got to say that there is some really beautiful stuff here. And, despite running an exclusively Forest Spirit army, I'd rather have most of these new Elf figures than the new Treeman kit they've released ...

Almost exactly one year after our last post, the geek (hey, that's me) is officially back in realm of Warhammer hobbying.

Are the tiger-themed Beast Kings of Ind completed? Well, no. Not just yet.

Are the samurai Elves of Tor Elithis all converted and painted up? No. Not yet.

What about the forest spirits in the Ragewood of Hathelos, then? Not quite, no ...

GW News: New High Elves Revealed

Over the weekend, pictures of the new High Elf models began leaking across the internets. Of course, we'd be remiss if we didn't post them here for your viewing pleasure ...

Kickstarter: Secret Weapon Miniatures' Tablescapes.

If you're a fan of tabletop gaming of any kind (and, if you're not, I'm curious as to what you're doing here), I've got a Kickstarter project that you ought to get behind.

These Tablescapes are 'an injection molded plastic 12x12" tile set designed to give tabletop gamers themed gaming environments that are fully compatible with new and existing terrain and basing options from Secret Weapon Miniatures.'

From what they've posted on their Facebook page, it sounds like they're also mindful of making these compatible with Games Workshop's 'Realm of Battle' tiles -- at a fraction of the cost.

They are initially offering "Scrap Yard" tiles, which don't really fit the fantasy environment (large rubber tires will be hard to explain in the deep, dark Drakwald forest), but their stretch will include themed tiles like "Urban Streets," "'Generic' Fields," "Ruined Temple," "Trench Works," "Lost Desert" and more.

Rumors of Warhammer: High Elves.

There appears to be news breaking on European blogs this afternoon with more details of what to expect from the upcoming High Elves release for Warhammer Fantasy. As a guy who is in the midst of converting a High Elf army (you know, alongside my other vast, unfinished Warhammer armies and projects), I'm a bit excited to see what's coming ...

2013 Pinewood Derby Champion!

Congrats to my eldest son, Jacob, on winning his Pinewood Derby last night.

Not only was he the top finisher in the Boys division, he also won the Overall -- by, literally, on hundredth of a second -- and finished the night undefeated. He has a couple of nice, new trophies to add to his shelf.

Pinewood Derby Week!

That's right, readers, it's that time of year again. For the past two weeks, I've put away the sculpting tools and Green Stuff and stepped away from the Warhammer world to test my skills in engineering, to build the fastest 5oz. wooden car possible. Thankfully, the time for the race is fast approaching and, tomorrow night, we can sweep up the saw dust and put away the plastic wheels and sandpaper and tungsten weights for another season.
