On the table this month ...

1) For the Carcharadons Astra: A Contemptor Dreadnought that is, when I'm done, going to be fully poseable. Like an action figure.

2) For the Nyam-Nyam Cannibals: A couple of witch doctor, one male and one female, as inspired by Diablo III.

3) For the Beast Kings of Ind: Some eclectic unit filler to go with a Dragon Warrior.

4) For the Ragewood of Hathelos: I've decided that the Dryads need a few finishing touches on the Dryads (a la "If you're going to San Francisco ...") before I feel like they're really 'done.' And I've found just the thing.

5) And, for the Elves of Tor Elithis: Maybe ninja or four.

I'm excited to clear this so that I can switch back to getting real units done. Like the Bestigors I've got waiting for some love and attention. Let's see how much I get done.

(Mostly) Complete: Birchroot

The first treeman of the Ragewood of Hathelos, Birchroot is an Ent from Games Workshop's Lord of the Rings line.

This model was chosen because Games Workshop had, to that point, failed to produce a treeman or, even, a treekin in their Warhammer Fantasy line that looked anything at all like, you know, an actual tree. And, since the idea behind the Ragewood -- at least, in my head -- is that they can 'disappear' into the forest of Athel Loren and become indistinguishable from actual trees until such time as they're needed to fight, I needed a treeman that actually looked like he could potentially do that.

... and, we're back.

Almost exactly one year after our last post, the geek (hey, that's me) is officially back in realm of Warhammer hobbying.

Are the tiger-themed Beast Kings of Ind completed? Well, no. Not just yet.

Are the samurai Elves of Tor Elithis all converted and painted up? No. Not yet.

What about the forest spirits in the Ragewood of Hathelos, then? Not quite, no ...

Wednesday Workbench: Crocotaurs.

The past couple of days, I've begun the long process of changing River Trolls into the Crocs that I'll be using to stand in for Minotaurs in my Beast Kings army.

Originally, I'd intended to simply use the Beloved of Sobek minis from Crocodile Games' Wargods of Aegyptus line but ran into several issues shortly in:

First, they're metal which makes modifying them nearly impossible and I'm dead set on not having 'duplicate' figures in my army. This would mean either much Dremeling or much recasting and I'm not a big fan of either of those options.

Second, they're expensive. Collecting them in the number I'd need would quickly get cost-prohibitive.

Works in Progress: Centigors (Unit #1).

With the completion of the Beast King and the Celestial Dragon Monk, I began work on the conversion of my Centigor units. As with all of my units, the Centigor are going to be subject to some heavy conversion work and sculpting.

The difference between these units and the others, however, are that there only five figures in each of these units while some of my others -- the Temple Monk P'nthors (Ungors) and the Ti'Gors of the Golden Fang clan (Gors), most notably -- have as many as 40 figures per unit.

There are currently two units of five centigors in production, and three other units of five centigors. The first (pictured here) features a Standard Bearer (which the other centigor units won't have) and the requisite Ghorros Warhoof.

As always, comments and (constructive) criticisms are appreciated!
